The Mercury News reviewed more than 700 criminal trials in Santa Clara County. Our study found questionable conduct in more than a third, mistakes at every phase of a trial that were tolerated by the appellate court, and in the worst cases, defendants who were wrongly convicted, including the four men whose stories are told here.

This is ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL in itself! To Ruin the lives of these people should be a FELONY, and should be prosecuted. As these continued “errors” keep being made, the punishment should get harsher. The prosecutors need to know how it feels to have your life ruined by their lack of care in doing the proper investigation nessasary to prove a case. Or in Santa Clara’s case, the investigation required to find the actual guilty party, instead of jumping the gun and getting that conviction at any cost. Even if it means putting innocent people in jail because it’s easier.
