Radiation Dosage Chart – Infographic

Risk of harm is dependent on both the dose and the dose rate (the time the body is exposed to that dose).

So a dose of 1000mSv over an hour is considerably more damaging than a dose 1000mSV over a year.

Status of the Nuclear Reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant

None of the six reactors at the plant have operated since the earthquake. But explosions have damaged four of the buildings, and fuel in the reactors and spent fuel stored in the buildings is in danger of melting and releasing radioactive materials.

Accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant

The worst nuclear accident since the Chernobyl explosion in 1986 is unfolding in northern Japan at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. Three reactors have been critically damaged and one caught fire.
