Secrets of the Pharaohs: Explore Khufu’s Pyramid

The great pyramid of Giza, built as a tomb for King Khufu (a.k.a. Cheops), was completed in 2566 B.C. Weighing more than 6.5 million tons, and comprised of 2,300,000 blocks of stone, the pyramid stood at 146.5 meters. Though it has now lost most of its polished marble facing, and its height has been slightly eroded by milenia of wind-blown sand, the pyramid of Khufu continues to dominate the Giza Plateau, captivating visitors and inspiring awe.
