Deconstructing the ‘Cathedral of Junk’

The ‘Cathedral of Junk’ is Vince Hannemann’s brainchild. Since 1989, he’s amassed 60 tons of junk that he’s assembled into an almost 33-foot-high, two-story edifice in his Austin, Texas, backyard. The cathedral draws thousands of visitors a year who give donations to go inside. Now, the city wants him to bring it up to code.
