Located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Philippines is a country living on the edge of disaster. Earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons and floods all threaten the safety of its 94 million citizens.
On 7 August 2012, extreme monsoon rainfall devastated its capital Metro Manila, forcing almost 750,000 people to evacuate their homes.
Big river Rising is an interactive web documentary about a poor community threatened by frequent floods in Banaba, Metro Manila. Despite the dangers, they fight for their livelihoods and safety by embracing the use of scientific solutions.
