America’s Middle Class

The past several years have not been kind to the middle class. During the economic expansion that began in 2001, incomes at the middle of the middle class declined — the first time that’s happened in 50 years — and now more American’s are finding that what they earn isn’t keeping up with the cost of living. With a recession looming in this election year, middle-class angst is front and center for voters and politicians.
